Reviews of So You Love a Prodigal

Where are the prodigals we love, and when will they come home?

Too many of us know the pain and despair of loving a prodigal. In So You Love a Prodigal, author and poet Rita Aiken Moritz meets the readers where they are—in their brokenness—and walks with them through the heartbreak of loving a prodigal. With a conversational approach, she dares to address questions such as, “Why my family?” and “Who’s to blame?”
Encouragement, hope, and a call to action are the central themes of So You Love a Prodigal. Readers are assured with simple words and Biblical examples that God is still in control, their story isn’t finished, and they are not alone.

November 3, 2018: Amazon Kindle Customer - Verified Purchase "As a practicing physician, I was amazed how practical and scientifically sound I found this amazing book.
The book is written for Christians and is biblically referenced and based. Rita Moritz is a very accomplished poet and writer. She was inspired and motivated by a lifetime of caring for her own prodigal son. That inspiration is God-given and makes this book very powerful.
The book is very helpful in reducing shame and guilt that we all feel when we see our children failing. It restores the correct biblical perspective that God is in control and the we need to let go of control when our children become adults in their late teens.
The great lessons in life can only be seen through parables and stories. We learn that the real problem was the self righteous unforgiving older brother and society. We have to give the Prodigal space to grow and learn Self Care. In the end the is book becomes a parable we can all follow and understand. This book is a priceless resource for all parents struggling with a prodigal child."

A much needed message
Rita's book is the most honest, realistic approach to the subject of living with a prodigal in your life. It offers no quick fixes, magic formulas, or fairytale endings. What it does offer is hard-learned advice on how to take care of yourself and trust God to take care of your prodigal, while never losing hope. It also gives a warning how to avoid becoming a prodigal yourself. Though it does tell some powerful happy ending stories, the focus is more on the process. If you have a prodigal in your life, you must read this book.

So You Love a Prodigal is filled with biblical truth and stories ...
So You Love a Prodigal is filled with biblical truth and stories that will break your heart and then open it to God’s healing. But you won’t find an instructional manual for fixing prodigals. Instead you’ll understand how important it is to take care of yourself along the journey. Most importantly, you’ll be confronted with God’s gift of joy for you — no matter how much “prodigal” is in you or in someone you love. You'll connect with Rita’s open and honest conversation. You’ll feel like she knows you, almost as if she’s been where you are. She doesn’t sugarcoat anything. She presents the good news that God loves, saves, forgives, and redeems — over and over again.

I have had an oh so precious 'prodigal' for over four years now.
Rita understands and she has given us so much insight into God's word and the importance of 'letting go and letting God' in our situation.

Godly perspective on loving a prodigal!
For the one who loves a prodigal, the author offers wisdom and examples from Scripture, understanding from her personal experience, and practical advice on making it through the toughest of times. I came away from reading her book with the comforting fact that I am no different from so many who struggle, that others are walking this path with me, and that with Divine Wisdom and self care, there are ways for us to find a measure of serenity and hope for our lives and hope for our precious prodigal.

Rita's new book, "So You Love A Prodigal" made me wipe tears away several times reading it. It is very well written and touches anyone's heart that has loved someone that is away from the Lord. My prodigal went back to the Lord but still suffers the consequences of his far country journey but thank our Lord for never giving up on him until he came home to the Lord. God is faithful. Helpful book on how to keep on keeping on.
