I.  Who Can Nominate a Candidate for this Buddy Award?
      A. Anyone can nominate a candidate.
     B. A candidate may not nominate himself/herself.

II.  How are Candidates Nominated?
      A. Nominations must be in writing and sent via a single email.
     B. This special email address has been established for all Buddy Award nominations:
                    buddyaward@mwwconference.com
     C. While no special form is required, criteria for the candidate (See Part V., below)
          should be addressed in as much detail as possible.

III.  When can Nominations be Sent?
     A. Nominations must not be sent between the first day of March and the last day
          of October of the nomination year.
     B. Example: Nominations for the 2020 Buddy Award must be emailed between
          03/01/2019 and 10/31/2019.

IV.  Who will select the successful nominee?
      A. Nominations will be considered by the Board of Writers Anonymous, who will then
          select the winner.
     B. The selection by the Board of Writers Anonymous is final.
     C. If a member of the Board of Writers Anonymous is nominated, that Board member
          will not participate in the selection process.

V.  What are the Criteria for selecting a Candidate?
      A. Candidate must be present at the annual Mid-Winter Writers Conference to
          receive the Buddy Award.
     B. What are the candidate’s publication credits?
          Publication includes one or more of the following:
        1. Books (self-published or traditional), journals or newsletters, newspapers,
             magazines, blogs, or chapbooks in any genre.
        2. Genres include: poetry, prose, drama/playwriting, non-fiction, fiction, creative
             non-fiction, devotional/inspirational, self-help, memoirs, mass media (magazines,
             literary journals, newspapers), etc.
     C. How has the candidate invested in authors and aspiring writers?
          For example: conducting workshops, speaking at conferences, teaching classes,
          sponsoring school contests, mentoring other writers, paying for scholarships, helping
          organize writer events, serving on boards or committees, speaking/encouraging writers
          without financial compensation, volunteering at writing events, holding poetry or writing
          workshops at local schools, etc.
     D. How has candidate demonstrated “Excellence in Writing?”
          Examples include: other awards and/or recognition, winning or placing in state or
          national writing or poetry contests, receiving blurbs from established authors, publishers,
          and editors, etc.
     E. How has the candidate been involved in the writing community by membership in writing
          groups? What specific groups is the candidate a member of.
     F. What positive impact has the Candidate had on the writing community?
     G. What other qualifications or accomplishments (relating to writing) does the candidate have?
