God will make a way
even where there seems to be no way.
"I will even make a way in the wilderness,
and rivers in the desert."

Colossians 1:16
“…all things were created by him, and for him.”
|
Nothing in life will make
sense until we realize we were made to bring honor and
praise to a holy God and to have fellowship with Him.
Until we’re clear on that basic truth, we’ll feel empty
and try to fill that emptiness everywhere else. It might
be drugs or alcohol or some other addiction. But it
could just as easily be seeking praise and recognition
or even service to others. Because we can’t escape
wanting to have a purpose…it’s the way God wired us.
There’s something infinitely comforting about the fact
that God cares personally about each one of us. My
pastor preached yesterday from Psalm 139 about how God
knows our every thought and word even before we say it.
He knows us more intimately than anyone other than He
can know us. I mean, way down deep, where the “real” me
resides…the one I wouldn’t dare show to others. He knows
that person, the one who is sometimes selfish, envious,
spiteful and a host of other terrible things. And yet,
He loves me and has a plan and purpose for my life. And
yours.
Jeremiah 1:4 tells us God both “formed us in the womb”
and “knew us before He had formed us.” And His purpose
for us is that we will honor and praise Him in
everything we do and have fellowship with Him. Once we
have that clear in our own minds, everything else will
fall into place.
You mean He wants me to honor Him in the way I treat my
spouse? Does He want me to honor Him in the way I do my
job? What about writing? Does He want me to honor Him
with the words I write? The songs I sing? The way I
treat the cashier at Walmart? To honor and praise Him in
my sickness and in my losses?
Yes, and yes and yes. In everything we do, from the time
we get out of bed until we go back to bed. Our purpose
is to honor and praise the God who created us. In the
good times. In the bad times. All the time. Because
that’s why He created us.
Challenge for Today: What might happen if we
realize God has a purpose and a plan for us?
Thank
You, Father, that You created me with a purpose. Thank
You for wanting to have fellowship with me. I pray You
will help me to seek Your face to find my purpose and
Your plan for me today.
